Belforest Pottery
What started as a means to help with a stained glass hobby quickly evolved into an ever growing passion for creating the projects found in the online store.
Located in Belforest, a community outside the city of Daphne, a small shed on family owned land, dating back to the early 1900's, Belforest Pottery is firing up a variety of hand crafted projects day after day.
We'd love to have you visit on a nice Spring day. You'll find me working in the shop, enjoying the view and helped by my four legged companions.
Flowers
I don’t grow many flowers, but I do love to have them displayed in my home. I use small bud vases, large-ish pitchers and other different design types of containers.
How it's Done
Creating the perfect piece of pottery takes time, precision and a lot of heat!
Our pieces are made with stoneware clay which is a mid-range fired clay. Typically we use either a smooth white clay or a nice tan speckled clay and every piece is fired twice with temps reaching upwards of 2000 degrees.
Each piece is finished off by either being hand dipped or hand brushed with glaze and fired up again!

Nature
I really like making things for everyday use, like this butter dish. It is from my Collard Collection, which also includes spoon rests, bowls, small plates and platters. I especially like using leaves and other parts of plants in the creating process.
